Uniform Policy in the summer
Chris wearing a skirt
Impington Village College 12 year’s old student Chris Whitehead wears a skirt in protest at his school´s uniform policy. According to Chris, forcing boys to wear long trousers during the summer effects their concentration and ability to learning. He believes that this is discrimination because girl’s students are allowed to wear skirts. Teachers of the college imposed a ban on boy´s shorts in 2009, following consultation with parents and teachers. Chris also addressed 1368 students at morning assembly wearing skirts. He is also a very bright student. His mother Liz Whitehead, 50 has praised him for it. She thinks he must do what he believes.
Opinion:
A uniform is great for students of Primary and Secondary education. The introduction of school uniform started as a sort of anti-discrimination campaign. The school uniform is worn so that everyone looks the same, no distinction between students. Casual clothing is nowadays increasingly common to English schools. There are over sweatshirts, polo shirts or t-shirts allowed. After reading Chris's argument I would choose for another option. The color is of course important but why not a policy for summer and winter clothing? Can boys be allowed to walk in shorts to school for those who want it? The girls can wear both shorts and skirts.
